Position Summary
The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages refrigeration units, and coordinates field teams to optimize system performance. The position requires effective documentation, vendor coordination, and adherence to regulatory protocols. Additionally, the Senior Technician provides hands‑on training, supports critical service needs, and drives continuous improvements by evaluating new technologies and refining operational processes to meet evolving business objectives.
Responsibilities- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial equipment.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands‑on training and evaluating technician performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, maintenance logs, and expense reports.
- Support on‑call rotations to address urgent service needs promptly.
- Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service scheduling to meet operational priorities.
- Proven experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant‑related issues.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and HVAC/R codes compliance.
- Ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands‑on training and technical guidance.
- Proficiency in managing preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Experience coordinating service calls, parts inventory, and vendor relationships to meet operational needs.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to support cross‑functional teams and continuous improvement.
- 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
- 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
- Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
- HVAC‑R/Mechanical Journeyman where required.
- 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Ability to read and speak English as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, or OUI within the last five years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
- Completion of a 2‑year technical or vocational HVAC/R program or 2‑year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration.
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
- No serious traffic violations as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Prior work experience with glycol and CO₂ systems.
