FAR Inspections, based in Reno, NV, is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is essential.
Occupancy verification involves:
- Verifying that a property is occupied.
- Reporting general condition of the property using a mobile application.
- Taking 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Most inspections are exterior‑only; about 10% require interior photos after vacancy.
Responsibilities- Complete inspections within 5‑6 minutes for the most common type.
- Finish inspection within 4 days after assignment.
- Determine occupancy based on industry standards and report general property conditions.
- Submit a short form in an app.
- Be able to spend extended periods driving with numerous stops throughout the day in the assigned territory.
- Computer with internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage a plus; you pay your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume, typically equivalent to $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county (urban vs. rural), you may complete 20‑500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. No mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
