Assistant-Patient Care

Nursing Position at BMH Booneville Hospital

Provides personal care assistance to patients under the direction of licensed personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs direct patient care duties as assigned under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.

Assists in the performance of procedures for the patient population served in a manner that is consistent with established policies and procedures.

Provides for patient safety.

Participates in ongoing educational activities.

Completes assigned goals.

Assist patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding - CHG baths.

Obtain and document vital signs, weights, and other assigned measurements at designated intervals (Med-Surg: 7 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 p.m.; CCU: every 2 hours; and post-operative vital signs per policy).

Distribute water and other approved fluids routinely and upon request, excluding patients with NPO orders.

Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, repositioning, and mobility activities not being performed by Physical Therapy (PT) or Occupational Therapy (OT).

Respond promptly and professionally to patient call lights and requests.

Observe, report, and document changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.

Support patient safety initiatives, including fall prevention, skin integrity measures, and turning/repositioning patients as ordered.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Assist nursing staff with patient care activities to promote efficient unit operations, positive patient outcomes, and an exceptional patient experience.

Perform purposeful hourly rounding to address patient needs and enhance patient satisfaction.

Promote patient comfort, dignity, and responsiveness to support a positive patient experience and quality outcomes.

Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes to promote continuity of care and a positive patient experience.

Maintain professionalism in all interactions and collaborate effectively with team members in alignment with Baptist Cares values.

Demonstrates initiative by anticipating patient needs, proactively addressing care tasks within scope of practice, and assisting the nursing team with minimal direction.

Exercises sound judgment, prioritizes patient care responsibilities, and communicates effectively with licensed nursing personnel.

Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic while supporting patient care and unit operations.

Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.

1 year hospital or long-term care experience with patient care.

Computer literacy.

BLS within 14 days of hire.
