The Production Planner/Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the master production schedule to meet customer demand, internal capacity, and material availability targets. Working cross-functionally with Planning, Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality teams, the role ensures that workloads are balanced, priorities are clear, and production plans support on-time delivery and operational performance. The Production Planner will coordinate end-to-end production activities from order review and schedule creation to monitoring progress and resolving constraints, while maintaining accurate system data and driving continuous improvement in planning processes.

This role requires strong analytical ability, excellent communication, and the capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain the master production schedule and utilize the production capacity to align with sales orders, and material availability, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities.
  • Review incoming demand, update system schedules, and ensure accuracy of planned manufacturing dates.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on:
  • Supply constraints such as material shortages and lead times
  • Excess inventory risks
  • Required safety stock
  • Re-order signaling processes
  • Scheduling adjustments due to insufficient material deliveries
  • Risk mitigation plans (consistent with internal planning practices).
  • Communicate production priorities and schedule changes across manufacturing, production engineering, and other functional teams.
  • Perform supply-demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for the next 6-12 months. Adjust as needed based on business demands.
  • Monitor work order status, progress, and constraints to ensure on-time delivery performance.
  • Generate and maintain planning metrics, reports, and KPIs for management review (reflecting the internal emphasis on schedule adherence and data tracking).
  • Support continuous improvement activities related to planning accuracy, workflow, and data integrity.
  • Responsible for managing and conveying statistical analysis to the organization and working closely with Sales and Operations teams to ensure that common goals are met.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Teams to gather inputs to build the consensus demand plan through the SIOP process.
  • Ensure consistency of forecast assumptions across the business unit, including base business trends and the accuracy of demand plans for new product launches, based on accurate analysis of distribution builds and velocity expectations.
  • Manage and coordinate project activities within the Supply Chain/ Operations team, driving cross-functional teamwork and data-based decision making to solve problems and develop the future state.
  • Use the ERP system (Epicor) and maximize the tools and resources available to meet production demands and improve the process.
  • Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees and customers, maintaining professional relationships that meet company core values.
  • Work as directed by the Manager.
