The Health and Safety Manager plays an integral role in connecting the safety program efforts at the plant level with the overall strategies of the corporate Health and Safety department. This role provides specialized expertise in the management of the plant level Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and industry regulations.

Essential Functions Communication, Training & Management
  • Develop and execute, in collaboration with the Corporate Environment, Health and Safety department, relevant, timely and intuitive health and safety policies and plans within the plant
  • Provide leadership for the implementation of TCCB health and safety programs at the plant level.
  • Establish and enforce a culture of health and safety through training, demonstrations, etc.
  • Act as a communication liaison between the plant and all regulatory agencies as well as the general public
  • Manage and conduct training sessions to Plant Management and Plant Personnel for Health and Safety programs
  • Respond and provide assistance to all Plant emergency situations
  • Monitor and evaluate daily tasks performed in the plant.
  • Provide assistance with work related health issues, such as accompanying employees on doctor appointments when evaluation results are required by the company for employment measures, or if the employee has been involved in a work related accident.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and workshops to keep up-to-date skills and knowledge and maintain required certifications
  • Work closely with Corporate Health and Safety Department on all Health and Safety issues, including submitting reports by their deadlines
  • Recommend solutions to current and future issues, improvement opportunities and new prevention measures
Auditing & Compliance
  • Ensure the plant’s compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local Health and Safety regulations
  • Conduct and assist Corporate Health and Safety Department in internal audits and assessments of Plant’s Health and Safety programs
  • Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies, procedures, contract documents, and good practices
  • Monitor professional literature and attend seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements
  • Conduct industrial hygiene tests (e.g. dust sampling, noise surveys) as needed to determine risks
  • Evaluate new safety equipment for adequacy and ensure that they will meet applicable requirements
  • Evaluate hazards within the facilities for safety, health, and environmental risks
  • Manage safety data sheets so they are accessible at all times according to regulations
  • Maintain and develop filing systems, both electronic and hard copies, for all documents and records for Plant’s Health and Safety programs
  • Review and update TCCB Safety Manual and programs as necessary
  • Manage the reporting and the investigation of all incidents, including near misses, and ensure that corrective actions are taken if needed
  • Act as administrator and be competent in various EHS software that are used within TCCB
Additional Duties
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Plant Manager
  • Daily attendance of Plant board walks is required.
  • Manage and maintain all department ISO responsibilities
  • Attend continuous education courses, webinars, etc. as well as staying current on industry technologies, compliance whitepapers, etc.
  • Regular attendance is required
  • Attend daily SQDC board walks
Required

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of professional Health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Exemplary oral and verbal communication skills
  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership and management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and program evaluation skills
  • 5-7 years of individual and group training experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in occupational health and safety or related fields
  • Current certificates in First Aid, CPR, and OSHA highly desirable
