As a Wastewater Treatment Operator I for the City of Borger, you are responsible for the basic operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. This entry-level position involves monitoring the effectiveness of the wastewater treatment process, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the plant operates within state and federal regulations. :
Monitor the operation of plant equipment such as pumps, filters, and conveyors to ensure they are functioning properly.

Perform routine maintenance on treatment plant equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure continuous operation.
:
Assist in monitoring various stages of the wastewater treatment process, including adjusting controls to meet processing requirements.
:
Record operational data, such as meter readings, test results, and equipment status, ensuring accurate documentation of plant operations.
:
Follow all safety protocols and ensure operations comply with environmental laws and regulations to protect water quality and public health.

Assist in responding to plant emergencies, such as equipment failures or spills, to minimize disruptions in service.
- Education
:
High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary training in wastewater treatment technology or a related field is preferred. - Experience
:
Prior experience in a utility or industrial setting is beneficial, but not required. Training will be provided on the job. - Certifications
:
Must obtain a Wastewater Treatment Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or equivalent within a set time period. - Skills
:
Basic mechanical skills, ability to follow instructions, and competency in using monitoring and control systems. - Personal Traits
