As a Water Distribution Maintenance Worker I for the City of Borger, you play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the city’s water distribution system. This entry-level position involves hands‑on tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of water lines, meters, and associated infrastructure. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water distribution systems, including pipes, valves, hydrants, and service lines.
:
Assist in the installation of new water distribution infrastructure, including laying pipe and installing meters and hydrants.
:
Monitor the condition of the water distribution system and report any issues or potential problems to supervisors.
:
Participate in emergency response teams for water leaks, pipe bursts, and other urgent maintenance issues.
:
Safely operate tools and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair tasks, such as wrenches, shovels, and mechanical cutters.
:
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements to ensure operations are carried out safely and compliantly.
- Education
:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in plumbing, pipe fitting, or a related field are a plus. - Experience
:
Experience in construction, plumbing, or a related field is beneficial but not required. - Certifications
:
Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as a Class C Water Operator within 2 y ears of the date of employment. - Skills
:
Basic understanding of water distribution systems, ability to use hand and power tools, good physical condition. - Personal Traits
