Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited educational institution.
• At least three (3) years of progressively responsible financial aid experience in a higher education institution.
• At least one (1) year of direct supervisory experience, including responsibility for employee performance, coaching, workload management, and accountability.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations and policies related to financial aid.
• Working knowledge of financial aid systems and software.
• Supervisory experience in financial aid or higher education is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
• Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
• Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Job Specification

This position is responsible for assisting the Director in coordinating the daily operation of the Financial Aid Office. The Associate Director of Financial Aid manages the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office and directly supervises Financial Aid staff. This position supports the Director in administering financial aid programs, implementing policies and procedures, maintaining compliance, and providing effective service to students.

Job Duties and Other Information

• Assist the Director in developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures to provide efficient and effective delivery of services. Assist the Director in developing, interpreting, implementing, and communicating policies and procedures and monitor staff adherence to established requirements.
• Manage daily operations of office and staff. Manage the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office, including staff supervision, workflow coordination, workload distribution, office coverage, processing priorities, and the timely delivery of student services.
• Train, coach, and provide ongoing feedback to staff regarding financial aid regulations, institutional procedures, systems, and student service practices.
• Addresses escalated student concerns and assist staff with complex financial aid situations.
• Communicate staffing concerns, operational needs, compliance risks, and significant student service issues to the Director of Financial Aid.
• Award, manage, and reconcile Go Grant, TOPS, and MJ Foster Promise programs.
• Serve as liaison between FAO and outside scholarship agencies such as LOSFA.
• Monitor student enrollment records to determine that students are enrolled and are attending classes according to the Return to Title IV Funds Policy.
• Calculate, post, and monitor all returned Title IV funds due to federal aid programs.
• Counsel students and parents regarding available aid programs and eligibility requirements.
• Support institutional efforts for data submission for FISAP, IPEDS, accreditation and other information needs.
