Position: Portfolio Accountant (Hybrid)

A leading real estate investment firm is seeking a Portfolio Accountant to join their Boston office. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process and will report directly to the Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate will bring 2+ years of accounting experience, advanced Excel proficiency, and a background in public accounting and/or real estate.

This is a full-time, hybrid position that offers up to $110K base plus bonus.

Responsibilities:
  • Review monthly financial reports prepared by third-party property managers, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting practices, and alignment with budget.
  • Monitor property performance metrics including NOI, tenant receivables, capital transactions, and cash flow projections.
  • Conduct periodic audits such as recovery income, lease administration, real estate tax, and property management expenses.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual closes, including preparation of financial statements, debt covenants, investor/consultant reports, and NCREIF deliverables.
  • Coordinate with external audit and tax teams to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare management fee calculations, forecasts, bank reconciliations, and fund-level wire/draw requests.
  • Support ad hoc projects, acquisitions, and dispositions with accurate financial entries and analysis.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Public accounting and real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
    Yardi experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
