We are seeking an Operations Specialist within our Accounting team at Fiduciary Trust Company. The ideal candidate will have 1 – 2 years’ experience in accounting or auditing. This role will serve as a key player in our Accounting team and will be expected to perform a variety of accounting tasks supporting the team with respect to deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of Accrual accounting versus Cash accounting.
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce Annual Probate Accountings using court accounting software. Process involves reconciliation to known balances, adjusting as needed and demonstrating an understanding of court accounting principals.
- Copy and assembly of accountings to submit to Account Officers.
- Produce Estate Accountings for review by Legal department with heavy emphasis on ability to reconcile multiple sources of information into a final Estate Accounting.
- Prepare spreadsheets, review and verify all transactions and market value updates for Limited Partnerships as approved by the Investment Committee.
- Calculate Accruals in a timely manner.
- Oversee assigned account closings, review and calculate final distribution figures, process final statements and follow up with Officers & internal staff to ensure accounts are closed in a timely fashion.
- Prepare date of death and alternate date of death valuations as requested.
- Develop a working knowledge of various software programs to perform daily activities, such as our Trust Accounting Platform as well as other internal and external software. Keep up with updates or changes to the programs being used.
- Provide support for management of Online Access Platform, this includes password resets and other maintenance as required.
- Ability to set priorities, problem solve, meet deadlines, deal with peak volumes, and adapt to change.
- Ability to work accurately, analytically and independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with associates, account officers and cross functionally.
- Background in accounting and or auditing.
- Knowledge of probate accounting and compliance issues a plus.
- Technical proficiency with working knowledge of desktop software applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
