Boylston Properties is seeking a talented, forward thinking, Property Accountant to support the real estate team in our Boston, MA office. You will provide high-quality accounting and administrative support to the financial and property management team members. The Property Accountant duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of responsibilities that may be assigned to this role.
Responsibilities- Assist with primary accounting responsibilities for the Company’s real estate portfolio including-
- Accounts Payable – maintain accounts payable ledgers; manage/process invoices and track invoice due dates; timely payment of invoices; cutting checks; maintain filing system for accounts payable documentation
- Accounts Receivable – maintain accounts receivable ledgers; track invoice due dates; collections and depositing income into company bank accounts; maintain filing system for accounts receivable documentation
- General Ledger – responsible for maintaining general ledger; daily upkeep of books and records
- Intercompany Charges – responsible for invoicing intercompany expenses and revenue; posting transactions and reconciling intercompany account balances
- Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist with preparation of CAM and Property Tax reconciliations
- Assist with monthly construction project requisitions
- Tax Compliance – preparation of annual Forms 1099; responsible for obtaining Form W-9 from all vendors; filing of state annual reports
- Assist with year end reporting packages and related schedules required for the annual audits
- Ability to interface effectively with banking contacts, attorneys, outside consultants and investors
- Team orientation, flexibility, and the ability to work in a small fast-paced office
- Minimum 2+ years of general accounting/bookkeeping experience required. Previous real estate and property accounting experience desirable but not required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Self‑motivated person who thrives in a dynamic work environment
- Experience with Yardi real estate accounting system
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

- Base Pay Range is estimated for Bookkeeper/Administrator in Boston: $80,000/yr - $90,000/yr
