Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting financial decision-making in a retail environment. This role plays a critical part in managing high-volume transactions, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and store-level financial performance.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP/IFRS
• Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations

• Manage inventory accounting including costing, shrinkage, and reserves
• Monitor stock movements, returns, and adjustments
• Reconcile POS systems to general ledger
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition across physical and online stores

• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Review vendor reconciliations and payment cycles
• Monitor customer accounts and credit controls

• Partner with store operations to monitor sales performance
• Analyze margins, discounts, promotions, and markdown impacts
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Maintain internal controls over financial reporting
• Support external and internal audits
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including sales tax and VAT

• Maintain ERP and accounting systems
• Improve accounting workflows and internal processes
• Support system implementations or upgrades

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in retail or consumer goods
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and revenue recognition
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite)
• Advanced Excel skills

Compensation: $33 to $36 an hour
