Position Summary

Novogradac & Company LLP is searching for a Tax Manager to join our fast‑growing firm. The Tax Manager will manage tax assignments as designated by the Principal or Partner, function with minimal supervision, and focus on supervising and mentoring Staff and Senior Accountants, strengthening client relationships, and increasing office profitability. Some positions may be open to remote or hybrid work arrangements depending on business needs.

Contributions and Responsibilities
  • Assume primary responsibility for client engagements, including planning, staffing, timing, technical issues, and other decisions; oversee completion of engagements with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct thorough engagement reviews.
  • Supervise and mentor Supervisors, Senior Accountants, and Staff, guiding them in technical areas and identifying professional development opportunities while maintaining a respectful team atmosphere.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for assigned staff and manage employee performance conversations.
  • Assist Principals and Partners with identifying, meeting with, and pursuing new clients.
  • Transform technical knowledge into high‑value‑added opportunities for firm clients.
  • Promote the firm’s image by participating on conference panels, contributing to firm publications, attending recruiting events, and conducting in‑house and client trainings.
  • Enhance the Novogradac brand by fostering relationships with Partners, employees, clients, and prospects.
  • Develop, strengthen, and grow client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and a service‑oriented approach.
  • Seek out and complete training courses to enhance skills in the industries the firm focuses on.
  • Increase office profitability by managing time efficiently and adding value through ideas.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Background and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance (advanced degree is a plus), and 3‑7+ years of experience in public accounting or an appropriate balance of education and work experience.
  • CPA license required.
  • Expert understanding of accounting and tax rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong personal, technical, and professional judgment.
  • Accurate, detail‑oriented work performed efficiently.
  • Strong organizational and follow‑through skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a fast‑paced, varied workload and manage concurrent priorities.
  • esponsive to constructive feedback and able to adjust as directed.
  • Team‑oriented and collaborative work style.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, and report‑writing tools.
  • Professional demeanor with coworkers and clients.
  • Gains the confidence of the partner group.
  • Meets internal firm deadlines (e.g., time entry, billing).
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and travel domestically when required.
Additional Experience (Helpful but Not Mandatory)

Experience with Affordable Housing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), Opportunity Zones (OZ), Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETC), Historical Tax Credits (HTC), Housing and Urban Development (HUD), New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC), real estate, developers, partnerships, housing authority, public housing authority, community development financial institutions, single audit, uniform guidance, A‑133, forecasting, cost segregation, year 15 exit, tax‑exempt bond, and HOME programs.
