Accounting Manager

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager oversees core general ledger activities and key aspects of the close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. This hybrid Boston-based role reports to the Accounting Director and directly supervises up to three Senior Accountants.

• Lead portions of the monthly close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses to maintain accuracy and compliance with US GAAP.
• Evaluate financial risks and internal controls, and recommend improvements to strengthen control effectiveness and operational reliability.
• Document accounting processes and maintain organized support for key judgments and conclusions.
• Analyze accounting data and reporting trends to identify issues, inform decisions, and support process improvements.
• Assist with external audit requests and internal compliance activities.
• Manage and develop team members by setting clear expectations, supporting prioritization, and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
• Communicate accounting matters clearly to varied audiences, tailoring detail and context to business needs.

• Assist with hiring and training of new employees.
• Prepare ad hoc analyses and management reporting as needed.
• Contribute to special projects related to systems, automation, and reporting enhancements.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, with 3+ years of public accounting experience.
• People leadership experience required.
• Experience supporting financial close, reconciliations, audit activity, and financial reporting processes preferred.
• Strong knowledge and practical application of US GAAP.
• Comprehensive understanding of financial risks and internal controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Oracle or equivalent ERP, and strong analytical capabilities.

$93,000 - $159,000. Base salary depends on factors such as experience, skills, and market rates. Additional incentives may include discretionary bonuses, variable compensation, and equity plans.
