Urban Property Management Corp - Boston, MA

Urban Property Management, a full-service property management firm founded in 1983 and focusing exclusively on the management of condominium associations, is seeking an Accountant. In this role you will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of residential condominium buildings. The Accountant will work with the Accounting Team and Property Managers on invoice approval, monthly reports, variance analysis and budgeting.

The ideal candidate will have a high degree of personal integrity and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Complete the month-end close process
  • Prepare monthly financial statements including variance analysis
  • Interpret financial reports to provide insight into property performance
  • Prepare annual operating budgets – analyze historic costs and project future cost trends
  • Maintain and manage accurate financial records for multiple properties
  • Collaborate with Property Managers to ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures
  • Communicate with Board members, property owners, vendors, real estate agents, attorneys and others to answer questions and resolve issues
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications and

Experience:
  • Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Experience as an Accountant or in a similar role
  • Understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting principals
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • A positive attitude and high degree of professionalism
Working Conditions:

100% in-office, South End, Boston, MA (no remote work).
