Payroll Manager

A rapidly growing, private equity backed organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce. This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while supporting continued growth and operational scalability.

• Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for 1,000+ employees across multiple states
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and labor laws
• Serve as the primary owner and subject-matter expert for ADP Workforce Now
• Manage payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end activities including W-2s and filings
• Partner closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure data accuracy and alignment
• Lead and develop payroll staff; establish best practices, controls, and documentation
• Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability in a high-growth environment
• Handle complex payroll issues including garnishments, multi-state taxation, and off-cycle payrolls

• 5+ years of payroll leadership experience in a large, multi-state environment
• Proven experience managing payroll for 1,000+ employees
• Hands-on expertise with ADP Workforce Now
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and audit processes
• Experience in a PE-backed, high-growth, or evolving organization preferred
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to partner cross-functionally and communicate effectively at all levels
