Controller – Boston-based Real Estate Development Firm
$160K–$200K Base + Bonus | In-Office | Excellent Benefits
Our client, a real estate firm in downtown Boston, isgrowing theirdata center development platform and is seeking a Controller. This opportunity willlead corporate, development, and operating accounting functions and report directly to the Chief Development Officer. The position plays a key role in cost control, financial reporting, development accounting, and overall accounting infrastructure as the platform continues to grow.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with development accounting experience who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where responsibilities may evolve and processes are still being built.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development, accounting for active data center projects
- Maintain Yardi Job Cost, review monthly costs, and support cost reforecasting
- Prepare budget-to-actual variance analysis and development fee calculations
- Support the transition from development accounting to operating accounting
- Oversee monthly reporting packages, operating budgets, CAM reconciliations, and tenant-related accounting
- Manage corporate close, budgets, reforecasts, audits, tax planning, and AP/AR processes
- Partner with construction, development, valuations, portfolio management, acquisitions, dispositions, and investor accounting teams
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of accounting experience
- Development accounting experience required
- BS in Accounting required
- Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar accounting/property management software
- Strong Excel, communication, organization, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving processes
