Position DescriptionThe corporate staff accountant position is a great opportunity for accountants who are interested in real estate accounting, corporate accounting, and consolidating financials. TCB believes in building and sustaining strong communities that help everyone. The Corporate accounting department are financial stewards of the organization, maintaining accurate financial records for The Community Builders, Inc. as well as other supporting legal entities.
Essential Functions- Maintain and reconcile corporate debt and investment accounts.
- Review, code, and process accounts payable invoices in Yardi.
- Monitor outstanding liabilities and resolve discrepancies.
- Process and reconcile accounts payable, Concur expense reports, and AMEX transactions.
- Analyze monthly expenses and investigate significant variances.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals and tax‑related entries.
- Monitor development funding and grant activity.
- Import, review, and reconcile financial information for assigned third‑party entities.
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional departments.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellence in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to convey issues and problems clearly both in writing and orally.
- Passion to work for a mission‑driven organization.
- BS degree in accounting or equivalent required, advanced degree a plus.
- 1‑3 years of general accounting experience required; nonprofit experience a plus.
- Experience with YARDI Accounting Package a plus.
- Familiarity with Concur a plus.
