About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable & Payroll Accountant to support our Finance team. This position is responsible for accounts payable, payroll support, general ledger activities, inventory accounting, reconciliations, and audit preparation. The successful candidate will help ensure accurate and timely financial processing, maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
Your Day to Day:Accounts Payable- Manage the full accounts payable process, including vendor setup, invoice review and coding, approval routing, and payment processing via check and ACH.
- Maintain vendor records and support compliance with IRS W-9 and 1099 reporting requirements.
- Review expense accounts and assist with month‑end accrual determinations.
- Maintain payroll data accuracy and collaborate with Human Resources to support payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with federal, Massachusetts, and applicable local payroll, tax, and wage‑and‑hour requirements.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll‑related journal entries and liability accounts.
- Support quarterly and year‑end payroll reporting activities.
- Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations as part of the monthly close process.
- Analyze general ledger accounts and assist with financial reporting.
- Support the administration and maintenance of financial systems.
- Maintain accounting records for inventory transactions.
- Perform reconciliations between inventory management systems and the general ledger.
- Review inventory adjustments, transfers, and write‑offs for accuracy and appropriate documentation.
- Partner with operations and inventory teams on physical counts, variance investigations, and related accounting entries.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist in strengthening internal controls and improving finance‑related processes.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting, including accounts payable and payroll functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with internal controls and process improvement practices.
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or a similar ERP/financial management system.
- Experience with inventory accounting and inventory management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial and payroll information with discretion.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across Finance, Human Resources, and Operations teams.
$80,000 - $80,000 a year
Based on a 37.5 hour work week
