Accounting Manager, Accounting, Stores Accounting

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join the Stores Accounting team supporting Zappos & Shopbop, where you will own critical operational accounting processes that ensure the accuracy and integrity of Amazon's Retail Subsidiaries financial statements. In this role, you will manage the monthly close cycle, oversee account reconciliations, and provide detailed flux and variance explanations while supporting internal and external audit requirements.

As a Finance Manager, you will serve as a trusted consultant and decision-maker, partnering with technology teams and diverse stakeholders to design and implement automated financial processes that improve accuracy and efficiency. You will be responsible for ensuring controlled, compliant accounting operations as Amazon's subsidiary business scales, while leading initiatives that streamline financial statement preparation.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Accounting and Financial Systems, demonstrated experience in operational accounting, month‑end close processes, account reconciliation ownership, variance analysis, and audit support, with a proven track record of leading and influencing teams to accomplish complex, ambiguous initiatives. This role requires someone who can operate as an empowered leader, driving strategic direction while maintaining day‑to‑day rigor of accounting operations to keep Amazon's financial statements materially correct.

• Own Operational Accounting:
  Manage the monthly close cycle, account reconciliations, flux and variance analysis, and audit support activities while partnering with technology teams and stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Automate:
  Lead automation projects and coordinate the design of processes and tools to simplify and increase the accuracy of financial statement processes.
• Support Expansion:
  Ensure implementation of controlled processes to keep Amazon's financial statements materially correct as Amazon's Retail business expands.
• Consult:
  Operate as a valued consultant to partner with many stakeholder teams across Amazon.
• Make Decisions:
  Serve as an empowered, impactful decision maker who drives the direction of accounting operations and process improvements to completion.
• Collaborate:
  Work with Amazonians of diverse backgrounds.

• 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

• CPA
• Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency.
• Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification.
• Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients.
• Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
