Workday Payroll Analyst
We are currently seeking candidates for a Workday Payroll Analyst opportunity with a highly successful investment management firm located in Boston, MA. The Workday Payroll Analyst will support U.S. payroll processing for a large, multi-state employee population while serving as a key resource for payroll operations, Workday Payroll administration, reconciliations, and employee support. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of U.S. payroll experience, with 5+ years strongly preferred, as well as hands-on Workday Payroll experience.
This Workday Payroll Analyst position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative payroll team while partnering with accounting, treasury, tax, and HR professionals.
This is a 4+ month contract opportunity, paying between $40-$50/hour depending on experience. The Workday Payroll Analyst may work remotely but must be located in the Eastern Time Zone. Candidates located near Boston, MA may work onsite four days per week, which is the preferred arrangement.
Responsibilities:- Support semi-monthly payroll processing for approximately 2,000 salaried and hourly employees across multiple states.
- Calculate payroll adjustments involving retroactive compensation, overtime, benefit changes, and employee over payments.
- Respond to employee and vendor inquiries regarding payroll transactions, deductions, taxes, and payment status.
- Partner with treasury professionals to project payroll funding requirements and help ensure timely payroll disbursements.
- Collaborate with accounting teams on payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and related financial reporting activities.
- Assist with payroll administration for employees transitioning to or from international assignments.
- Perform year-end payroll reconciliations, including validation of W-2 information and related reporting.
- Maintain Workday Payroll configuration, including earnings, deductions, tax settings, and general ledger mappings.
- Investigate payroll discrepancies, communicate findings, and recommend solutions that improve payroll accuracy and efficiency.
- Contribute to ongoing payroll process improvements and operational initiatives.
- Provide additional payroll support as needed.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 3+ years of hands-on U.S. payroll processing experience; 5+ years is strongly preferred.
- Direct experience with Workday Payroll is required.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll for both salaried and hourly employees.
- Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP or similar payroll platforms is preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, deductions, reconciliations, and year-end payroll reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
