Accounting Assistant

Compensation

Hourly: $25/hr temp Part- time

Annual Salary: $65,000 (no guarantees)

Responsibilities
  • Maintain precise financial records, including reviewing accounts payable transactions and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Input revenue streams, cash receipts, and other transactions into Quick Books following established procedures and prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations, such as bank and credit card statements, to ensure accuracy and assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist in generating reliable financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, providing insights to leadership.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, identify anomalies, and collaborate with HR to resolve issues before payroll finalization.
  • Support budgeting activities by preparing variance reports and working with managers to address discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, standards (GAAP or IFRS), and regulatory requirements, preparing documentation for audits.
  • Contribute to financial operations by supporting internal processes, creating clear documentation, and developing communication tools that enhance knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Adapt to and learn new systems as needed, ensuring data integrity and operational efficiency.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational access and success.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas such as VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
  • Experience working with accounting software such as Quick Books, , Oracle, or similar systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Prior experience with accounts payable, journal entries, and month-end procedures preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
