We are partnering with a highly regarded and growing private equity firm to identify a Tax Manager who will play a key role in supporting the firm’s tax function across its funds, management company, and investment platform.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, hands-on tax professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with outside advisors, and helping build scalable processes as the firm continues to grow. The Tax Manager will work closely with finance leadership, external tax providers, legal, and internal stakeholders on a broad range of tax compliance, planning, reporting, and structuring matters.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage tax compliance activities for the firm’s investment funds, management company, general partner entities, and related structures.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns, K-1s, extension filings, estimated tax payments, and investor tax reporting.
- Serve as a primary liaison with external tax advisors, auditors, administrators, and other service providers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Review fund and entity-level tax work papers, tax provisions, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with tax planning, structuring, and due diligence related to fund formations, investments, acquisitions, dispositions, and other strategic transactions.
- Partner with legal, accounting, investor relations, and operations teams to evaluate tax considerations and implement practical solutions.
- Monitor tax law developments and assess their potential impact on the firm, its funds, and investors.
- Support tax notices, audits, and other correspondence with taxing authorities.
- Help develop and improve tax processes, controls, documentation, and reporting calendars.
- Assist with ad hoc projects related to investor reporting, entity management, carried interest, and other tax-related initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required;
Master’s in Taxation and/or CPA preferred. - 5+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and private equity, investment management, real estate, or partnership tax exposure.
- Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, flow-through entities, and federal and state tax compliance.
- Experience supporting private equity funds, investment partnerships, hedge funds, or other alternative investment structures is strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, coordinate across internal and external stakeholders, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical tax matters into clear business recommendations.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with tax, accounting, and fund administration systems.
