We are partnering with a global, private equity-backed manufacturing organization seeking a Senior Manager/Director of Global Revenue Accounting. This highly visible role will provide leadership and technical expertise over complex revenue recognition across a global manufacturing environment, with a significant focus on long-term contracts, percentage-of-completion accounting, inventory/WIP, and contract review
.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation combined with the ability to understand the commercial side of the business. This individual will work cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Operations, Legal and business-unit leadership to evaluate customer contracts, determine appropriate accounting treatment, and ensure accurate and consistent revenue recognition globally.
Key Responsibilities- Lead global revenue accounting activities with a significant focus on ASC 606 and revenue recognized over time using percentage-of-completion/cost-to-cost methodologies
. - Review complex customer contracts to identify performance obligations, transaction price considerations, contract modifications and appropriate timing of revenue recognition.
- Oversee percentage-of-completion calculations
, including costs incurred, estimated costs to complete, project margins and changes in contract estimates. - Partner with operational and finance teams to evaluate inventory, WIP, material and labor costs impacting contract profitability and revenue recognition.
- Monitor contract assets and liabilities, unbilled revenue, customer advances and other balance sheet accounts associated with long-term contracts.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex or non-standard customer arrangements and document accounting conclusions.
- Partner closely with Sales and commercial leadership to understand contract terms and identify accounting implications before agreements are finalized.
- Work with FP&A and business-unit finance teams to understand revenue trends, margins, forecasts and changes in estimates.
- Establish and strengthen global revenue policies, procedures and internal controls
, driving consistency across business units. - Support quarterly and annual close, external audit requirements and PE/senior leadership reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate revenue processes, reporting and controls across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606, percentage-of-completion/cost-to-cost accounting and complex contract revenue recognition
. - Experience with inventory, WIP, cost accounting and manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
- Ideal background includes a mix of public accounting and corporate/industry experience
. - Experience with in a large, global and/or publicly traded organization is highly valued.
- Technically strong with the ability to research complex accounting matters and translate guidance into practical business solutions.
- Strong business partner who can effectively work across Accounting, Finance, Sales, Operations and Legal
. - Comfortable operating in a dynamic, global environment with complex contracts and multiple business units.
This is not simply a revenue accounting role. The position sits at the intersection of technical accounting, commercial contracting and operational finance
