A leading alternative asset manager is seeking a Fund Controller to join its multi-strategy accounting team in a newly created role. This person will sit directly behind senior members of the team and help create additional depth across fund accounting, fund operations, administrator oversight, investor reporting, valuations, regulatory reporting, and process improvement.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with public accounting and private industry/fund experience who wants to take ownership of funds and processes from A-Z. The role involves significant interaction with third-party fund administrators, but this is not simply an administrator oversight position. They want someone who can still get into the weeds, understand the full close process, and eventually operate independently across assigned funds or mandates.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee fund control and operations for existing and new funds, products, and segregated mandates
- Manage the full fund accounting and close process, including NAVs, financial statements, investor reporting, audits, regulatory filings, and recurring fund deliverables
- Work closely with third-party administrators, banks, auditors, compliance providers, and other external partners to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong service delivery
- Partner with investment, client relations, compliance, operations, and senior finance teams on finance-related tasks, investor deliverables, and ad hoc requests
- Support valuation processes, including preparation of valuation materials and review of direct investment valuations
- Assist with fund budgeting, treasury support, vendor payments, investor redemptions, and operational planning
- Identify process improvements and help strengthen workflows, controls, reporting, and overall operating model efficiency
- 8+ years of experience in fund accounting, fund finance, private markets finance, fund administration, public accounting, or a mix of these backgrounds
- Strong preference for candidates with both public accounting and private industry/fund experience
- Big 4/public accounting candidates will be considered, especially with strong alternative investment or fund exposure
- Experience across private equity, credit, hedge funds, multi-strategy alternatives, or other alternative investment strategies will be considered
- Ability to own a fund or process end-to-end, not just review work at a high level
- Experience working with and overseeing third-party fund administrators while remaining hands-on
- Strong technical accounting, partnership accounting, Excel, communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; CPA or equivalent preferred but not required
This is a great fit for a hands-on fund accounting professional who wants broader ownership, exposure to a diverse alternative investment platform, and the opportunity to grow into a true fund/process owner over time.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
