The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) protects, promotes, and enhances our commonwealth’s natural, cultural, and recreational resources. DCR manages one of the largest and most diverse state park systems in the nation, including more than 450,000 acres of parks, forests, lakes, and trails.
Responsibilities- Support the DCR Finance Office in processing payments in the new Massachusetts state accounting system, Mosaic, and complete extensive online training for the system.
- Compile and maintain data, files, and databases as assigned using Mosaic and DCR Finance tracking systems.
- Assist and provide indirect supervision of budgeting and accounting transactions performed by one or more of the 37 DCR field cost centers, as assigned.
- Provide support and expertise, and create a collaborative relationship to facilitate overall agency operations and service delivery.
- Respond to inquiries and provide information to internal and external contacts.
- Communicate with fiscal staff regularly to ensure compliance with all state and agency fiscal policies and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work independently and learn a new accounting system with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with MMARS and/or Mosaic is desirable; experience with comparable financial management systems is acceptable.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new systems.
- Effective communication, multi‑tasking, prioritization, and collaboration skills in a fast‑paced, team environment.
- Accurate document and report preparation skills.
- Adherence to guidelines and procedures.
- At least three years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time experience in administrative work.
- Or an equivalent combination of experience and the following substitutions:
- An associate’s or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management, or public administration may substitute up to two years of experience.
- An associate’s or higher degree with a major other than business administration, business management, or public administration may substitute up to one year of experience.
- Educational substitutions are prorated based on completed requirements and are limited to a maximum of two years of experience.
