DutiesThe work involves providing routine technical and administrative support in one or more administrative program areas.
Typical Work Assignments- Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office. Responding to inquiries, providing general information regarding office programs.
- Providing assistance and processing support in procurement activities.
- Preparing travel authorizations and travel vouchers for reimbursement to traveler.
- Facilitating access to sensitive material while serving as the Grand Jury Transcript Coordinator.
- Maintaining and extracting data from automated docketing databases and systems.
- Scheduling appointments, inviting participants, and determining location of meetings.
- Assisting in maintaining property records and conducting inventory.
- Other challenging administrative responsibilities in support of the mission.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.
Requirements – Conditions of Employment- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre‑employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continuous employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one‑year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of the announcement.
To qualify for the position of Administrative Services Assistant (Office Automation), you must meet the qualification requirements listed below.
GS‑5To be eligible at the GS‑5 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑4 level; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education.
- Examples of specialized experience may include providing clerical support in an office setting by answering customer phone calls, greeting and directing visitors, producing written documents utilizing office automation software, and maintaining files.
Specialized experience may be supported by post‑high‑school education, with credit rules as noted.
GS‑6To be eligible at the GS‑6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑5 level.
- Examples of specialized experience may include reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; using automated software to create, copy, edit, store and print a variety of documents and reports; making purchases within governing procurement regulations; maintaining electronic databases to track information and suspense items; and making purchases of supplies, equipment, and services.
Typing test: type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5‑minute sample with three or fewer errors. A typing test may later be required.
