Overview
Operations and Program Manager - Ethics Institute. The role works with the Ethics Institute Director and Associate Director on Institute operations, budgets, and personnel administration, and collaborates with faculty leads on project implementation. The position includes event planning, tracking Institute activities and grant-funded projects, and providing administrative support for grant proposals. Monthly reports are provided to the Director of Research Development.
The Ethics Institute is an interdisciplinary unit focusing on research and education innovation in applied ethics, including AI and data ethics, environmental ethics, social and economic justice, religion and ethics, research ethics, and bioethics. The Institute connects programs, projects, and events with partners across Northeastern's global campuses and with student groups and programs supported by the Institute. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities- Operations and Project Implementation:
Support Institute operations and project implementation, including scheduling projects and programs, maintaining records, organizing meetings, assisting with reports, and providing logistical support. Work with the Director and project leaders on event planning and execution, vendor contracts, travel and lodging for Institute members and participants, and related logistics. - Budget:
Manage the Institute and program budgets, track expenses and liabilities, reconcile the budget, ensure timely payment of vendors and consultants, and assist with budgeting processes. Provide analytics support and financial reporting to funders and the university. - Personnel:
Assist with personnel matters, including hiring for projects, arranging visiting researchers, ensuring timely payments, support for the Center/Institute s coop and work-study programs, and onboarding visitors and participants in residential programs. - Development:
Support budget preparation and administrative tasks for grant proposals to federal agencies and foundations, as well as fundraising activities and for fee-for-service contracts. Identify funding sources and ensure awareness of funding requirements; assist in preparing submission materials. - Cross-Function Communication and other duties:
Coordinate with budget and research finance teams to align center/institute budgets with MOUs and institute needs; coordinate with marketing and communications to promote Institute programs and successes; assist with annual report preparation; support communications and marketing for projects and programs.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of administrative and project management experience, preferably in an academic environment. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with budgets is required.
- Experience organizing and running events is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Technical skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with students, faculty, vendors, and administrative contacts.
- Flexible and highly organized, able to manage competing demands.
- Ability to create and coordinate events, timelines, maintain accessible files, and manage multiple events and projects.

Compensation:
Grade/Pay Type 107S. Expected Hiring Range: $53,615.00 - $75,728.75. The starting salary will depend on factors such as education, experience, location, knowledge and skills, and pay comparison to similarly situated employees. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
