The National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases Association (NTSAD) is one of the nation’s oldest patient advocacy organizations. We support individuals and families affected by ultra-rare genetic diseases, specifically Tay-Sachs, Canavan, GM1, and Sandhoff. Our mission is to drive research, build community, and provide unwavering support to families navigating these devastating diagnoses.
The RoleWe’re seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and compassionate part-time Development and Administrative Assistant to support our fundraising, donation processing, and event support. As a key member of our small and collaborative team, this position helps ensure the smooth administration of development operations while contributing to meaningful engagement with donors, families, volunteers, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities Development Operations & Donor Management (50%)- Process donations, including digital bank deposits, and ensure timely and accurate gift entry in our CRM (Donor Perfect)
- Maintain donor records, constituent information, and fundraising data with a high level of accuracy
- Prepare and distribute donor acknowledgement letters, tribute notifications, and other stewardship communications
- Coordinate periodic donation and reconciliation batch reports for the organization’s accountant
- Support fundraising campaigns, appeals, and donor engagement initiatives
- Assist with general office administration and day-to-day operations
- Coordinate vendor relationships and office supplies as needed
- Support NTSAD staff on an as-needed basis
- Support special projects and other organizational initiatives
- Assist with planning and execution of NTSAD’s key development events, including:
- Day of Hope
- Rare Disease Month
- Imagine & Believe
- Support event registration, logistics, and attendee follow up
- Provide warm, responsive support to families, donors, and community members via phone and email while triaging inquiries to the appropriate staff member
- Send personalized donor communications
- Support relationship-building efforts by helping ensure positive and meaningful constituent experiences
- 1+ year of administrative, fundraising, or nonprofit experience
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Comprehensive familiarity with diverse philanthropic giving methods as well as accurate recording and acknowledgement of all gift types to ensure IRS and audit compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with donor databases (CRM) preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a customer-service mindset
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- Experience with Donor Perfect or similar donor management database
- Prior nonprofit, healthcare, advocacy, or association experience
- Familiarity with Canva, Constant Contact, or similar communication tools
- Part-time, approximately 20-25 hours/week
- Flexible schedule within Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
- Ability to attend NTSAD’s Annual Family Conference, fundraising events, and other organizational programs as needed
Compensation
: $21.00 - $22.00/hour
In-person at our office, which is conveniently located near South Station in Boston, MA (02111)
