Orrick has an exciting opening for an experienced Business Development Manager who is ready to be challenged and build a career within an AmLaw Top 50 law firm. You will sit in the office.
ResponsibilitiesWhat Will You Do? As a Business Development Manager, you will be a member of the team that provides support to the firm’s Supreme Court & Appellate practice group in their business development initiatives and activities. Your primary role will be to contribute to the development, implementation and ongoing review of strategic client plans and programs, cross-selling initiatives, and key client activities to support the teams, as well as Orrick's firmwide business goals and strategies.
In this role you will also provide thorough and proactive support for events, presentations, pitches, and RFPs and assist in preparing lawyer teams for meetings/opportunities and executing follow up. You will be responsible for high-quality content management, drafting targeting and customized content, market and company research and project management. You will also lead or support projects in connection with the firm’s Key Client Program and for other important client relationships.
You will collaborate with the various functional units within the Business Development Department, including the Events, Pitch and Proposal, Creative Services, Operations, Communications, and Client Relationship teams, as well as with other departments and programs within the firm including the Knowledge Management team, Community Responsibility Program and the Diversity Program.
You will work under the direction of the Senior Business Development Manager, Supreme Court & Appellate.
Qualifications- Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years marketing or business development management experience.
- Law firm, Litigation, and business development experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent writing skills. Applicants should be expected to submit a writing sample.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong project management skills, laser-like attention to detail and a focus on efficiency.
- Ability to balance competing needs and continually prioritize (and re-prioritize) tasks at a moment’s notice.
- Thinks creatively and has enthusiasm to perform the job at a high level.
- Establishes rapport well and is a good listener; can collaborate comfortably with partners and team members both inside and outside of the firm.
- Willing to take action and be highly productive in dynamic, high-pressure situations.
- Strong client service approach and team orientation.
Strong technical knowledge, computer skills and experience with (or the ability to become proficient in) the use of marketing systems and tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), Rex (CRM Software) including Vuture (Broadcast Email and Event Registrations Suite), Orrick’s relevant firm and marketing systems, including deals database, portal (SharePoint) and eReports.

The expected salary range for this position is:
- New York City $154,000 - $185,000
- Washington DC and Boston, $139,000 - $185,000
