Vice President of Business Development

Location: Greater Boston preferred (Remote with 1 week per month travel)

We are supporting a VP/SVP Business Development search for one of our clients (this is not a role at GQR). The client is building a pharma-scale organ-on-a-chip platform powered by image-based AI, and they are hiring a senior commercial leader to jumpstart US growth.

This is a build role: year-one target of ~3-4M in US revenue, with a strong focus on services-led partnering in the current market. You’ll inherit and lead a small BD team (2 Director/Sr Director reports) and operate as the primary closer in the US.

• Own US BD strategy and deliver ~$3-4M in year-one revenue
• Build and convert pipeline with pharma/biotech partners (and CRO ecosystem)
• Lead scientific + commercial conversations with senior stakeholders
• Build a repeatable services motion: scoping, proposals, pricing, and close
• Lead and develop a lean BD team with clear accountability and execution cadence
• Partner with technical leadership to align delivery, roadmap, and customer success

• 10+ years in BD/commercial roles selling complex scientific platforms or R&D services into pharma/biotech
• PhD (Doctor of Philosophy)
• Strong network that can produce qualified opportunities quickly (CRO ties are a plus)
• Proven ability to close large programs and build pipeline from early stage
• Scientific credibility to engage in technical diligence and translate novelty into adoption
• Hands-on, entrepreneurial operator who wants to build - not maintain

Base salary is expected in the ~$250K-$300K range (flexible), with strong upside tied to performance.
