Description

Summary:

The Front of House Manager will manage the front-of-house events at the MRPAC, supervise box office staff and volunteers, and provide a welcoming experience for patrons and artistic clients.

Status:
Part-time, approximately 12 hours per week as needed. Salary: $19 per hour.

Start date:

ASAP, pending a training period. Specific schedules: nights and weekends; hours vary by show schedule.

Reports to:

Executive Director.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train volunteers to execute concessions operations, ushering, and greeting.
  • Fill in as needed when the bar needs support.
  • Warmly welcome patrons, assist with seating and box office issues.
  • Communicate process improvement measures to the Executive Director.
  • Serve as the point of contact in case of emergency evacuation and lead evacuation efforts if necessary.
  • Conduct safety inspections prior to events and performances, ensuring compliance with all codes and permitting regulations.
  • Manage cash for concessions and box office areas.
  • Assist with post-show cleaning duties as needed.
  • Act as an active, knowledgeable, and visible ambassador for MRPAC, relating to current and upcoming performances, gallery shows, and organizational history.
  • Coordinate volunteers and keep track of their involvement.
  • Cultivate volunteers to be ambassadors and friends of the theater.
  • Provide volunteer training 1-2 times per year and as needed.
  • Assist with events to thank our volunteers.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in the performing arts; prior front-of-house operations or customer service preferred.
  • Commitment to cultural competency practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Energetic, reliable, independent, and flexible work style.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to create positive workplace relationships.
  • Able to work collaboratively with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a MA CORI check.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and move around the MRPAC site as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs; navigate stairs, bend, twist, and reach.
  • Must complete TIPS certification and Crowd Manager certification through the MRPAC before independent work begins.

The MRPAC has a 396-seat theater, an art gallery holding small performance events for 50 people, and a green room/rehearsal space.
