The opportunity

EY’s Life Sciences Consulting Services team helps clients balance performance with sustainable value. As a senior manager, you will lead large engagements, build solutions, lead teams, and innovate in the market. The practice supports large pharma, biotechnology, medical device manufacturers, and medical technology industries. Focus areas include business transformation, commercial operations, commercial data and analytics, commercial strategy, market access, growth strategy, operating model optimization, technology implementation, and enterprise transformation.

key responsibilities

Support client engagement teams, working with a wide variety of clients to deliver professional services in the life sciences domain.

Skills and attributes for success
  • Strong prior experience in life‑science commercial strategy with a focus on operational models. Additional experience in market access and commercial analytics is a plus.
  • Prior experience in strategy‑focused boutique life sciences or internal strategy roles with top biopharma clients (e.g., Merck, Pfizer, BMS).
  • Experience managing at least 5 reports in a dynamic, fast‑paced setting.
  • Effectively manage and motivate client engagement teams with diverse skills and backgrounds.
  • Lead large‑scale client engagements and consistently deliver high‑quality client services.
  • Monitor progress, manage risk, and keep key stakeholders informed about progress and expected outcomes.
  • Manage expectations of client service delivery and stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client’s business.
  • Foster an innovative and inclusive team‑oriented work environment by counselling and mentoring junior consultants.
  • Develop and maintain long‑term client relationships and networks.
  • Develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to serve client needs.
  • Remain current on new developments in life‑sciences advisory services capabilities and industry knowledge.
To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Biology, or Pharmacology.
  • 6+ years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience and advisory service experience in at least one of the following areas: commercial analytics, brand strategy, pricing and market access, digital campaign management strategy, familiarization with pharmaceutical datasets (pricing databases, prescription and claims databases, etc.), commercial operations and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Executive presence to interact with the C‑Suite.
  • Willingness to travel to meet client needs.
  • Significant advisory/consulting experience in life sciences is required.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Life‑science or biomedical background and experience in data analytics and commercial operations.
  • PhD in life sciences or bio‑focused engineering discipline.

EY provides comprehensive compensation, benefits, and development opportunities. The base salary range (US) is $114,800–$210,600, with higher ranges in major metros. Benefits include medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off.
