Opportunity
Opportunity to join a leading global Tier 1 renewable equipment supplier (Solar racking / tracking equipment, electrical BOS, services) as a Trade Compliance Manager. Must have familiarity with relevant tariff sections (e.g. 232, 301, etc.), ideally seeking candidates in the Tri-State area.
SummaryCompany is seeking a highly qualified individual to manage its international trade compliance process. The individual will be responsible for working with various departments within the Company to ensure compliance with all statutes and regulations enforced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection ("CBP") and all other relevant Partner Government Agencies ("PGAs") including the Department of Commerce ("DOC").
Responsibilities- Serve as internal consultant to provide advice on international trade compliance issues including the following:
- Classification of the Company's imports under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States ("HTSUS");
- Valuation and appraisement of the Company's imported merchandise;
- The country of origin of the Company's imported merchandise for CBP and/or DOC purposes;
- Eligibility of the Company's imports for Free Trade Agreements and Special Trade Programs;
- Antidumping and countervailing duties;
- Applicable trade actions such as Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 and the like.
- Maintain the Company's database of applicable classifications under the HTSUS.
- Review and respond to all inquiries and communications from CBP and other PGAs.
- Monitor incoming shipments for international trade compliance issues and assist logistics and/or procurement team as necessary.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments to ensure that the Company remains in compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.
- Remain current and knowledgeable of developing issues in international trade compliance.
- Liaise with outside counsel on trade compliance issues.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in trade and customs compliance.
- Customs broker license preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
