Liberty Mutual Mobility Solutions is seeking a consultant to support product research and development for new mobility insurance products. The role involves drafting and maintaining coverage language and forms, assessing product compliance, preparing and collaborating on internal filings, and analyzing competitor filings. You will work with firms that are changing the way people and goods move – including autonomous vehicles, ride‑hail, car sharing, subscription, micromobility, and more.
The role requires a highly adaptive and innovative approach to coverage design, developing manuscript solutions for emerging mobility and autonomous vehicle risks where traditional insurance frameworks may not yet exist. It operates at the intersection of product, underwriting, claims, legal, and strategy to help shape scalable insurance solutions for evolving transportation models.
Responsibilities:
- Product Development – manage multiple mobility product form and contract initiatives, prepare filings, analyze information, make recommendations, and innovate coverage language for new products in a fast‑paced environment.
- Coverage Innovation & Emerging Risk Design – design and evolve manuscript coverage solutions for emerging mobility and AV exposures, evaluate novel liability and operational models, and partner across functions to develop commercially viable and scalable coverage approaches.
- Market/Product Research – answer inquiries related to coverage, forms, manuscripts, and contracts; monitor bureau and state legislative activity; evaluate impacts to existing mobility products and competitor strategies.
- Project Management – drive and coordinate cross‑functional coverage initiatives, working closely with teams in partnerships, underwriting, pricing, and claims to pursue new business opportunities and build thought leadership.
Ideal Candidate:
- Prior product experience analyzing and drafting commercial insurance policy contracts, preparing filings, and responding to objections.
- Experience drafting manuscript coverage language and navigating complex or non‑standard insurance structures.
- Project management experience working cross‑functionally with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience pulling and reviewing competitor filings.
- Highly developed critical thinking, problem‑solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Prior experience in Claims, Underwriting, and/or Compliance in the insurance industry.
- Experience with Commercial Auto and/or General Liability products.
- Experience with emerging mobility, autonomous vehicle, transportation network company (TNC), specialty casualty, or other evolving risk environments.
- Track record of framing decisions and recommending trade‑offs.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence others (both with and without authority).
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field
- Minimum 6 years relevant work experience, typically 8 years
- PhD or equivalent research beneficial
- Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, Emblem)
- Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision making, communication, and project management skills
- Experience managing projects preferred
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
