Role Overview
The Engineering Director, Product Technical Lead is responsible for product engineering for cloud‑based solutions for a Tax service line, including Partnership, Corporate, Indirect, and Strategic Tax Services within BDO. This role focuses on a client‑centric engineering mindset to deliver high‑quality and scalable solutions as the software engineering delivery leader for product development and innovation within BDO Tax.
What You Will Do- Design, build, and lead technology development teams with professionals who can excel in a cross‑disciplinary environment, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and accountability.
- Oversee the development of product portfolios, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards and business needs.
Requires strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire, develop and motivate high‑performing teams. Excellent strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities. Exceptional ability to understand business requirements and strategy and determine best options for delivery.
Requirements- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and Twelve (12) years of experience in the technology field.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in a leadership role, managing development teams.
- Experience managing product engineering teams with Twenty (20) or more people in a global multisite setup.
- Experience delivering global scale technology solutions.
- Experience interacting with client business leaders and IT professionals.
- Experience working with a multinational remote team.
- Experience developing and launching successful enterprise and/or SaaS products in the tax or accounting industry.
- Extensive understanding of software architecture and engineering principles and patterns (e.g., microservices, serverless).
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
- Experience managing projects in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Tax experience.
- Microsoft Azure and Dynamics based product development experience.
- Artificial Intelligence technologies, including GenAI and solution design and development using AI.
- Experience in a professional services firm.
- Cloud related technical certifications like AZ‑900.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), AI platforms like OpenAI, Anthropic, Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and database technologies (SQL, No
SQL). - Expertise in multiple programming languages (e.g., C#, .NET, JavaScript/Type Script, Python) and frameworks.
