The Lead, Contract Management is an experienced professional managing the end‑to‑end contract lifecycle for Takeda Oncology's Pricing, Value, and Access contracting process. This individual serves as a subject matter expert and key partner to internal stakeholders, ensuring that contracts are executed with precision, in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, and in alignment with approved business strategies.
PVA's primary commercial contracting customers include health plans, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), specialty pharmacies, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), wholesalers, and distributors. Government contracting encompasses State Medicaid and the VA Federal Supply Schedule. The Lead, Contract Management is comfortable navigating across these customer types, delivering high‑quality, timely contract solutions that support access to Takeda's oncology portfolio and ultimately improve patients' lives.
How you will contribute Contract Lifecycle Management- Manage the full contract lifecycle, from initial business case development through negotiation, execution, and ongoing contract administration, escalating complex or high‑risk decisions to leadership as appropriate.
- Draft, review, and negotiate Market Access agreements‑including health plan, PBM, specialty pharmacy, GPO, wholesaler, distributor, Medicaid, and VA Federal Supply Schedule contracts‑in accordance with approved guidelines and strategies.
- Draft term sheets for new contract offers and prepare high‑quality customer correspondence and communications.
- Identify and flag high‑risk contractual terms and elevate exposure and liability concerns to management and account teams in a timely manner.
- Ensure contract files and supporting documents are accurately tracked, organized, and maintained in accordance with company filing processes.
- Partner with Market Access account teams during contract negotiations to align on terms, conditions, and commercial strategies.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Legal, Finance, Government Pricing, and Contract Operations to ensure proposals and contracts are prepared accurately and on schedule.
- Respond to inquiries from customers and field account managers regarding contract program specifics and performance details.
- Provide guidance on contract interpretation to support compliance, with particular focus on payment accuracy, forecasting implications, and reserves.
- Work with Government Pricing and Contract Operations to ensure appropriate price reporting, validation, and payment calculation in the Model N revenue management system.
- Maintain and update contracting policies, procedures, and workflow processes, continuously seeking best practice solutions and embracing new technologies to support an agile operating environment.
- Review and interpret reimbursement strategies, including price protection arrangements, and communicate these effectively to internal teams and customers.
- Remain current on healthcare reform developments, payer landscape dynamics, and regulatory changes that impact contracting across managed care, PBM, specialty pharmacy, government, and exchange channels.
- Support periodic business reviews with internal leadership and customers by preparing relevant contractual background, analysis, and documentation.
- Actively support Pricing Committee and Contract Governance Committee meetings as a prepared subject matter expert, contributing PVA contract insights and supporting the development of meeting materials and documentation.
- Support the Business Case process by providing contract‑related analysis and context to inform decision‑making.
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience, with a background in Market Access, contracting, or a closely related field is required.
