Business Analyst (Healthcare Integration – HL7/FHIR)

Location:

Remote Duration: 3 Months (Contract) – Possibility of 3-Month Extension

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support our healthcare integration initiatives. This is a short-term contract role (3 months, with potential extension) requiring strong healthcare interoperability and technical integration experience. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with healthcare data standards, EHR platforms, and system integrations, and will be comfortable collaborating with technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and document business and technical requirements for healthcare integrations
  • Work closely with engineering teams on API-based integrations and interface development
  • Create detailed interface specifications, data mapping documents, and transformation logic
  • Support integration workflows involving HL7 and FHIR standards
  • Analyze and document synchronous vs. asynchronous integration flows
  • Collaborate with EHR/EMR stakeholders and vendors
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and HIPAA guidelines
  • Facilitate discussions between business, product, and technical teams

Required

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst in healthcare technology environments
  • Hands-on experience with HL7 and FHIR standards
  • Experience working with EHR/EMR platforms such as Cerner and Epic
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs
  • Experience with message transformation and mapping
  • Experience writing interface specifications and data mapping documentation
  • Understanding of synchronous vs. asynchronous integrations
  • Working knowledge of JSON and XML
  • Conceptual understanding of healthcare vocabularies: ICD-10, CPT, LOINC, SNOMED
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA basics (PHI handling, data security in transit and at rest)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in healthcare provider or payer environments
  • Familiarity with integration engines (e.g., Mirth, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf)
  • Experience supporting interoperability or digital health initiatives
