Overview

The Lead Product Manager will focus on the member’s workout and wellness experience, creating digital tools that enhance member health and satisfaction. This leader will drive product ownership and development within dedicated PODs, collaborating closely with Engineering, UX Design, Analytics, Marketing, Operations, and other stakeholders to launch new features from concept to market.

This role is ideal for someone who has built consumer‑facing mobile applications (retail, subscription, digital consumer) and enjoys working cross‑functionally to solve real customer problems. Experience in fitness, health, wellness or lifestyle applications is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Product Execution & Delivery

  • Owns execution of the Workout & Wellness product roadmap, delivering new features and enhancements that improve member engagement, workout experiences, and long‑term retention.
  • Leads product development from discovery through launch, including opportunity identification, requirements definition, prioritization, sign‑offs, user acceptance testing, launch readiness, and post‑launch optimization.
  • Leads and actively participates in Agile sprint ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, to align cross‑functional teams and drive successful product delivery.
  • Writes detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, product requirements, and feature documentation that enable successful development and delivery.
  • Champions an MVP‑first mindset by identifying the highest‑value product solutions that balance member experience, business value, and technical feasibility.
  • Drives timely decision‑making throughout development while proactively removing obstacles and resolving competing priorities.

Member Experience & Product Innovation

  • Develops a deep understanding of Planet Fitness member behaviors, motivations, and workout journeys through research, analytics, usability testing, and surveys.
  • Synthesizes quantitative and qualitative insights into opportunity hypotheses, product strategy, and prioritized roadmap investments.
  • Manages research and testing, e.g., surveys, concept testing, clickstream data, and A/B testing. Transforms insights into opportunity hypotheses and product requirements.
  • Identifies opportunities to create engaging workout experiences that support members both inside and outside the club.
  • Partners with UX Design teams to ensure intuitive, user‑centered digital experiences that reflect Planet Fitness' brand and member expectations.
  • Monitors emerging trends in digital fitness, wellness, mobile technology, and consumer behavior to identify new product opportunities and help inform long‑term product strategy.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Serves as the primary product representative within dedicated PODs and partners closely with Engineering, UX Design, Analytics, Marketing, and Operations.
