About the Role

  • The AI and Data-Driven Path to Approval (AIDPA) Initiative Lead is accountable for the strategy, execution, and value realization of AI and data transformation in development.
  • Leads cross-functional strategy to reimagine drug development through an interoperable, scalable, future-ready data and technology landscape for R&D.
  • Integrates AIDPA strategy and execution with other R&D of the Future initiatives, including Global Capability Model (GCM) transformation and Global Regulatory Affairs transformations.
  • Reports to the Chief Regulatory Officer; partners with R&D of the Future leaders, data/technology teams, and enterprise stakeholders.
How you will contribute /

Key Responsibilities
  • Own AIDPA strategy (ambition, outcomes, KPI framework) and translate vision into use cases and redesigned ways of working with milestones and measurable impact.
  • Drive value realization (business case, ROI discipline, transparent status/performance) and secure stakeholder accountability across the AIDPA portfolio.
  • Establish agile decision pathways; coordinate work streams; facilitate prioritization, sequencing, and trade-off management.
  • Spearhead connectivity across work streams; enable transparent communication; coordinate input into end-to-end lean process redesign to improve cycle time, quality, compliance, and productivity.
  • Champion adoption of new technologies/ways of working; influence AIDPA communications and embed AIDPA into broader transformation narratives.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

Required

  • 12+ years of leadership experience across R&D functions.
  • Ability to make program decisions, hold partners accountable, and build trust/influence across R&D.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-workstream portfolios with sequencing, prioritization, and trade-off management.
  • Proven enterprise-scale, cross-functional transformation success with measurable value realization.

Preferred

  • Deep R&D strategic/domain expertise and data/digital/AI fluency in an R&D context.
  • Experience integrating data/technology foundations into business process optimization.
  • Prior partnership with data/technology organizations to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Knowledge/experience with agile ways of working.
  • Advanced degree (PhD, MBA, or equivalent).
