Purpose of the Role

Associate Vice President, Head of Transactions and M&A for Lilly Neuroscience. Oversees business development transactions within Lilly's Neuroscience business unit (M&A, in-licensing, out-licensing/divestitures, and equity investments), partnering with Neuroscience commercial and Lilly Research Labs leaders to identify and pursue opportunities, execute transactions, form strategic partnerships, and drive growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee neuroscience transactions across all development stages (discovery to commercial), including negotiations for deals, licensing agreements, M&A, and strategic collaborations.
  • Lead deal teams; collaborate with Legal, Corporate Investment & Financial Banking, Accounting & Finance Planning, Alliance Management, etc. to maximize success and drive efficiency/productivity/profitability.
  • Coach and oversee Senior Directors on the Transactions team.
  • Achieve results via individual performance and team performance.
  • Partner with neuroscience Search & Evaluation to identify/evaluate external opportunities.
  • Influence senior leadership and stakeholders on key decisions and opportunities.
  • Lead large-scale BD initiatives/programs with significant risk, resources, and complexity.
  • Anticipate external environment changes; solve unique/complex problems with broad business impact.
  • Identify long/short-term partner, competitive, and environmental trends.
Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years in pharma in business development, R&D, finance, sales/marketing, new product planning, or project management.
  • Bachelor's degree; MBA/PhD/MD preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; no expected visa sponsorship.
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • BD transaction experience (licensing, M&A, equity investments) in biotech/pharma.
  • Life sciences banking and/or consulting preferred.
  • Strong clinical development and commercial landscape knowledge.
  • Strong collaboration/influence (including with executives), R&D/commercialization breadth, analytical/problem-solving, communication, learning agility, high ambiguity handling, persuasion/influence/negotiation, organization, and bias to action.
Compensation/Benefits
  • Anticipated base pay: $243,000–$356,400.
  • Eligible for company bonus (company/individual performance-dependent).
