RESPONSIBILITIESWe are seeking a Safety Manager to support the Director of Safety in advancing the W.T. Rich safety culture and safety management program. In this role, the Safety Manager will be assigned to a project team and serve as an embedded safety leader, partnering closely with project management, field operations, and trade partners to proactively manage risk and support successful project execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead project safety efforts through proactive planning, field engagement, and collaboration with project teams and subcontractors.
- Partner with project leadership to integrate safety into all phases of construction operations, including pre-construction planning, high-risk work activities, logistics planning, and daily field execution.
- Conduct routine project safety inspections, observations, and audits to identify hazards, verify compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
- Support and participate in pre-task planning, toolbox talks, coordination meetings, and subcontractor safety discussions to strengthen project safety culture and accountability.
- Conduct incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations, determine root causes, and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Coach, mentor, and influence project personnel and subcontractors to reinforce safe work practices, strong safety leadership, and proactive hazard recognition.
- Review project conditions, work plans, and changing site activities to identify and mitigate emerging risks in a dynamic construction environment.
- Support project compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable OSHA and construction safety regulations.
- Assist in the collection, tracking, and reporting of project safety data, observations, corrective actions, and leading indicators.
- Contribute to employee and subcontractor safety orientation, training initiatives, and ongoing professional development efforts.
- Build strong working relationships with project teams, owners, subcontractors, and regulatory stakeholders to promote a positive and collaborative safety culture.

QUALIFICATIONS Experience/Education- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and construction safety experience.
- 5+ years of construction safety experience supporting commercial, institutional, higher education, or large-scale building projects.
- Proficiency in web-based safety management programs (Highwire/Site Form) strongly preferred
- Computer literacy and working knowledge of spreadsheets strongly preferred
- OSHA – 30 Certification – required
- OSHA 500 / CHST / CSP / ASP – preferred
- Proactive, self-motivated, innovative, collaborative, multi-tasker
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail
- Strong team player with a positive attitude
- Basic computer skills and competency
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis Incident Investigations – required
