Wilcox & Barton, Inc. is a growing environmental consulting and civil engineering firm serving clients throughout New England. We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Licensed Asbestos Inspector to join our Hazardous Materials group.
Position Summary
The Licensed Asbestos Inspector will perform asbestos inspections, collect bulk samples, document field observations, and prepare inspection reports in compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and capable of working independently in a fast‑paced field environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct asbestos inspections for renovation, demolition, and property management projects
- Collect and document bulk samples following established protocols
- Complete field notes, inspection reports, and chain‑of‑custody documentation
- Identify suspect asbestos‑containing materials in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
- Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations
- Travel to project locations throughout New England and other parts of the eastern seaboard.
Qualifications
Required
- One or more Asbestos Inspector License in a New England State (MA, NH, VT, ME, RI)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a Federal Government background check
Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to climb ladders, access attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and other confined areas as necessary
- Basic computer proficiency for report preparation and documentation
Preferred
- Experience with demolition and renovation surveys
- Knowledge of AHERA, NESHAP, OSHA, and state asbestos regulations
