We are seeking an experienced hands-on Project Superintendent who leads from the jobsite and thrives in an active construction environment.

Position Overview

This is a field-intensive leadership role.

The Project Superintendent will spend the majority of their time onsite leading active projects, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring work progresses safely, on schedule, and at the highest level of quality.

This position is ideal for a strong Superintendent or an experienced Assistant Superintendent ready to take broader ownership of multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Leadership (Primary Focus)

  • Maintain a strong and consistent presence on active job sites.
  • Lead day to day project tasks & coordinationg with Total Construction management.
  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities to ensure schedule and production goals are met.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, manpower, and quality of work.
  • Enforce jobsite safety standards and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
  • Identify and resolve field issues quickly to prevent schedule delays.
  • Coordinate sequencing of trades and manage site logistics.
  • Conduct regular jobsite walks and progress evaluations.
  • Ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to project plans and specifications.

Project Oversight

  • Oversee, at times, multiple commercial projects at various stages of construction.
  • Review schedules and ensure field operations align with milestone targets.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers & senior field staff to track project costs, productivity, resource allocation, & assist with budgeting and estimating when required.
  • Review and analyze submittals and RFIs with a practical, field-based perspective.
  • Advise leadership of potential risks impacting schedule, cost, or client satisfaction.
  • Maintain clear communication between field teams, office staff, and clients.
  • Proactively resolve conflicts in the field.
  • Represent Total Construction professionally during site visits and meetings.
  • Build strong working relationships with subcontractors and trade partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • 3+ years of Superintendent or strong field leadership experience
  • Or 5+ years of Assistant Superintendent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active job sites
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Jobsite safety management
  • Subcontractor coordination
  • Procore daily reports, reviewing submittals, & RFIs

Technical Skills

  • Procore
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams)
  • Microsoft Project
  • Smartsheet (preferred)
  • Strong field leadership presence
  • Decisive problem-solving abilities & proactive foresight
  • Ability to manage multiple moving parts in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent verbal & technical communication skills
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • Ability to balance hands-on field leadership with project-level oversight
  • This is primarily an onsite position.
  • Frequent travel between active job sites throughout MA, Southern NH, RI, and Northeast CT.
  • Regular presence at job sites is required.
  • Office time will be necessary for reporting and coordination but is secondary to field responsibilities.
