Railroad Construction Company, Inc.
is seeking an experienced, motivated Estimator to join our growing Estimating Department, with opportunities available in Paterson, NJ and Boston, MA.
We are looking for a highly organized team player with a strong background in heavy civil construction who can develop accurate, competitive bids and contribute to the successful pursuit of complex infrastructure projects.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze project documents for risk, schedule, constructability, and profitability.
- Review plans and specifications and prepare complete, accurate bid proposals.
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop pricing for materials, subcontractors, equipment, and crews.
- Compare current bids to historical data and maintain post-bid documentation.
- Develop and manage project budgets and estimating documentation.
- Communicate with owners, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Visit project sites to evaluate existing conditions, construction methods, and project requirements.
- Participate in bid reviews and support the development of competitive, value-driven proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Estimating and/or Project Management within the heavy civil construction industry.
- Proven track record estimating civil construction projects up to $50M; experience with larger projects of $100M+ is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and production for structures, roadways, sitework, and utilities.
- Experience with rail and trackwork is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Bluebeam, and HCSS Heavy Bid.
- Demonstrated ability to develop accurate, competitive, and value-driven bids.
- Knowledge of union agreements is a plus.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods, including Design-Build, is a plus.
