Videographer Fellow

Compensation: $18/hour

The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) and the ELM Action Fund (ELM AF) are committed to advocating for policy and building political power in Massachusetts to meet the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges.

ELM and the ELM Action Fund seek a Videography Fellow with strong production skills and a passion for creating engaging short‑form video content. The fellow will help expand ELM's video and photography library by producing educational videos, campaign‑related content, event footage and photos, and other digital assets that support ELM's communications and advocacy work.

The fellow will need easy access to their own or their school’s equipment (hardware and editing software), as ELM will not be able to provide it.

This position will report to Bianca Pokrzywa, Digital Media Manager, and be a part of the Communications Team. Additional tasks may be assigned by other Communications Team members.

• Build ELM’s video library
• Produce short‑form video content that can be used across ELM's social media platforms and digital communications channels
• Lead the production of short testimonials and/or interviews about ELM and the ELM Action Fund, including in partnership with politicians, donors, staff, and fellow advocacy organizations
• Build video content promoting our endorsed candidates and advocacy campaigns
• Collaborate with the Communications Fellow to prepare scripts and facilitate filming
• Capture video and photos at ELM and ELM Action Fund events, as needed (likely 2‑3 times a month, with appropriate advance notice)
• Additional Videography and Photography
  • Collect relevant b‑roll of staff, political campaigning, clean energy, public transit, the Boston area, and more
  • Edit event video and photos
  • Create short background videos and other video assets for ELM's websites and digital communications materials
  • Support the Communications Fellow in creating scripts, storyboards, and shot lists for social media videos

Competitive candidates will have experience with all stages of video production, including filming, editing, and directing. Experience producing concise, engaging videos for digital audiences is a plus. We seek a fellow who will take initiative throughout the production process and who can translate ideas into compelling visual stories.

Interest in political, environmental, advocacy, or documentary‑style filmmaking is a plus. While environmental experience is not required, we do seek someone compelled by ELM's purpose to secure the health and wellbeing of the environment and future generations.

$18/hour

The fellow’s hours are expected to be 3‑5 hours/week, depending on production schedules.

This position can mostly operate remotely, but the fellow will be expected to film in‑person events in and around Greater Boston, social media content, and b‑roll. Candidates with a valid driver’s license and access to a car are preferred.

The Fellowship will run from late August through early December. Start and end dates are flexible. The position can also be extended into the next session if both parties feel that it was a good fit.
