Senior Video Production Consultant (Part-Time)
We are seeking candidates for a Senior Video Production Consultant position with a top-tier investment management firm located in Boston, MA. The Senior Video Production Consultant will provide part-time, on-call support to the firm’s in-house video production team and play a hands‑on role throughout the production process, supporting studio and on‑location shoots across directing, technical direction, camera operation, lighting, audio, and real‑time troubleshooting.
This role is ideal for an experienced freelance video production professional who is currently working in the industry or a related field.
This is a contract position that will pay $45-50/hr (depending on experience) on an as‑needed basis. This position supports a hybrid work model within their Boston office.
Responsibilities:Support studio and on‑location video productions, including directing/technical directing, camera operation, lighting, audio, and talent support.
Operate Blackmagic switchers and cameras, Sony A7/FX6 cameras, Pro Presenter, and professional audio equipment.
Set up and execute lighting, camera, and audio configurations based on production needs.
Troubleshoot technical issues in real time and conduct pre‑and post‑production equipment setup and breakdown.
Maintain and organize studio and field production equipment to ensure production readiness.
Support on‑location shoots, including equipment transport, setup, B‑roll, and event photography.
Collaborate with producers and internal marketing, social media, and events teams, with flexibility for occasional evening or off‑hours work.
Organize and prepare media for editorial handoff and provide light editing support in Adobe Premiere.
Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field required.
4–8+ years of professional experience in video production, grip work, or a related production environment.
Demonstrated experience directing and/or technical directing multi‑camera studio productions.
Hands‑on experience with Blackmagic Design switchers and studio cameras.
Strong proficiency operating Sony cameras, including the FX6 and A7 series.
Solid understanding of professional audio capture and mixing, including lavalier, boom, and wireless microphone systems.
Strong practical lighting experience in both studio and on‑location environments.
Experience using Pro Presenter for live graphics cueing and playback.
Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere for media organization, basic editing, and exports.
Strong technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain calm and solutions‑focused during live productions.
Excellent organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and travel to external shoot locations as needed.
