In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory olled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in 'valid' Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. Federal Work Study student may apply. Position

Summary

Berklee College of Music String Department Assistant assists the Chair in communications, publicity, operations, media, social media, publications, and community building. The Berklee College of Music String Department is hiring a String Principal to serve as Department Assistant. The Department Assistant will build community and the Berklee String Department's presence through managing social media; publicizing, managing, and documenting String Department events;

assisting with departmental email communications; publishing a weekly String Department newsletter, assisting with logistical demands such as moving equipment, posting flyers, unlocking rooms, etc.. The Department Assistant will work directly with String Chair David Wallace, String Department faculty, and Professional Performance Division staff.

Required Skills

Individuals with professional administrative, marketing, photography, or audio/video production experience are preferred. Video/audio production skill; strong, professional, and prompt writing and communication skills; and a commitment to diversity and inclusion are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working with String Chair David Wallace and our String Department faculty:
  • Managing social media and producing and creating new content (You Tube, Instagram, etc.)
  • Creating and publishing a monthly String Department newsletter
  • Publicizing and helping to coordinate String Department events, including Workshops and visiting artist residencies.
  • This includes creating posters and media
  • Collaborating with American Roots Program faculty and assistants for joint projects.
  • Assisting with preparation and administration of our summer string programs.
  • Assisting faculty with curating our instrument and equipment library.
  • Meeting weekly with String Chair David Wallace
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Department Assistant will be using a number of applications including Canva, Mail Chimp, Google Docs, as well as video or audio editing programs.

Salary

Hourly Rate: 16.97
