Position: House Usher

House Usher – Emerson College

Join our community and experience Emerson College! Seeking self‑motivated, responsible, and dependable part‑time ushers to serve inside the House of Emerson College:
Office of the Arts venues.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Provide a primary level of assistance to guests, including greeting, way finding, and acting as an information resource.
  • Allow or disallow guest access to the theatre.
  • Direct guests to their proper seats and immediately report ticket problems to the House Manager on Duty.
  • Answer questions and provide guests with additional information.
  • Assist guests with specific needs, including accessibility requests and seating concerns.
  • Enforce basic theatre and college policies.
  • In an emergency, guide and assist all guests to exit and re‑enter consistent with Emerson policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Excellent customer skills required, including tact, professionalism, and patience.
  • Previous theatre experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proactive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Basic customer service skills.
  • Able to collaborate with a wide range of individuals.
  • Friendly and personable.
  • Team player who works well in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Interest in theatre and a genuine desire to work with people is a plus.
Physical Abilities
  • Ability to lift and move light objects.
  • Ability to move materials occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for periods of up to 4 hours.
Work Environment

Hourly rate: $15.25. Grade of Position: T01N. Scheduled Weekly

Hours:
