To participate in Berklee Student Employment as a Student Recruiter/Tour Guide, students must first meet the following eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Requirements- Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee
- Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate‑seeking undergraduate or graduate program
- Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled; in this case, the student must be pre‑registered for the upcoming fall semester (the exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters)
- Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN)
- Maintain a valid Visa status, as applicable
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (students in their first semester may work even without an official GPA until completion of the first semester)
- Federal Work Study student may apply
- Be in good disciplinary standing
- Be located in the United States
Under the direct supervision and mentoring of the Campus Visit Manager, the Berklee Admissions Student Recruiters/Tour Guides carry out the various campus visit programs provided by the Berklee Office of Admissions. Additionally, they staff the front‑desk area and assist with other tasks throughout the Office of Admissions.
The Berklee College of Music Office of Admissions seeks responsible students from all majors who possess an upbeat personality to give campus tours and act as positive representatives and ambassadors of the student body. Priority is given to students that have successfully worked or are currently working as a Berklee Admissions Ambassador.
Required Experience and Skills- Minimum of 2 semesters of study in residence at the Berklee College of Music, Boston Campus
- GPA in good academic standing (preferred GPA of 3.5 or higher)
- Excellent standing within the Berklee community, evidenced by exemplary performance in chosen instrument or field of study
- Contagious enthusiasm and desire to share information about Berklee
- Outgoingness and active involvement in the Berklee community, both on‑ and off‑campus
- Exceptional maturity, responsibility, and judgment as a representative of the conservatory
- Thorough understanding of and strong belief in Berklee’s mission and vision
- Conduct various campus visit programs, including campus tours, open house events, information sessions, audition events, and other assigned programs and events
- Greet all admissions visitors as their first point of contact
- Have knowledge of all Berklee College of Music programs and willingness to learn and speak about the different majors
- Take initiative and contribute to the campus visit experience for prospective students and their families
- Assist with audition and interview events
- Maintain confidentiality of all applicants and application materials
- Respond to all phone, email, and in‑person inquiries and questions in a friendly, accurate, and professional manner
- Direct visitors to the appropriate staff member or office, regardless of whether or not it is admissions related
- Contact other campus departments or staff persons on behalf of the visitor
- Check in guests for tours, information sessions, and other programs
- Recommend tours or information sessions as appropriate
- Suggest other activities that may improve a campus visit experience
- Make outgoing phone calls to new applicants and high‑rated prospective students
- Stay current with communications from supervisors, including Salesforce, Facebook, email, and written messages
- Ensure that media is operational during business hours (TV screen, Keynote/Prezi presentation, Mac, etc.)
- Make every effort to be available for all admissions related events such as Open House events and audition weekends
- Perform administrative and data entry tasks as assigned, including work for other admissions staff
- Keep desks and floors free of trash and debris and perform other duties as assigned
- Hourly Rate: $17.51
- Part‑time hours ranging from 10 to 15 hours per week, with additional opportunities for project‑based temporary employment
